[Alright as it's been over a month since this has been posted to, I say this should just be officially wrapped up. An announcement for the next rehearsal will be soon, when some of the bigger scenes have been finished so everyone knows how to act around each other. Meanwhile, Rachel has left everyone with an assignment asking them to start thinking of songs for Regionals.]

Artie wheeled himself into the choir room quietly. He had a free period so he figured he'd hang out there. He flicked on his brakes near the band equipment. He pulled out his cell to check it before he started rehearsing.

Rachel marched into the choir room. She had heard through the Glee phone tree that someone had been asking about auditions, and she was eager to see who it would be. She was excited about all the attention the club was receiving lately, but it worried her at the same time. The last time they had gotten new members this close to Regionals, the member had been a spy who betrayed them at the last second...and had hurt her immensely in the process. Rachel shook her head, clearing it of the bad thoughts, and reminded herself how great her life was now. She spotted a boy in the choir room and beamed. "Welcome! I'm Rachel Berry, co-captain of New Directions, and I will be holding your audition today. Your name?"

Alex turned to the girl. "Alex....." He said. "I will be singing Smooth Criminal By Michael Jackson." Alex says and then gets to the microphone. "As you know, I am also a basketball player."

"Hello Alex, Rachel Berry," Rachel said politely introducing herself. She settled on the piano bench and nodded as he added he was part of the basketball team. She didn't know why that was relevant, but she did at least know who he was from seeing him at the games when she went to see Finn. She smiled once she heard he would perform a Michael Jackson song. Rachel listened and watched attentively and smiled once he finished. "That was great," she said. "Welcome to New Directions."

Rachel nodded, and stood from the piano bench. "No problem. I'll have someone get to you with a practice schedule, alright? You'll need to be sure you're there and working hard for all of them. Regionals is quite soon and we must place to keep Glee club around." She began gathering all of her books and such. "I'd stay to chat, but I have somewhere I need to be," she continued. "See you at practice?"

Alex nodded at Rachel, grabbed his basketball and left dribbling down the hall. He saw that someone was about to slushie Alex, Alex took his basketball, smacked the Slushie back to the person.

Alex walked down the halls towards the choir room, carefully following the directions she had been given. She wasn't usually the nervous type but somehow the thought that she was the new girl at McKinley wasn't exactly thrilling. She looked into the room and knocked on the door.

"Hi, I'm Alex, is this where I try out for New Directions?" she asked as she walked into the room.

Rachel was hanging out in the choir room, working on a song while sitting at the piano. There hadn't been much to do at the hospital, so Rachel had taken up songwriting as something to do to pass the time, and she found out she really liked it and was pretty good, although her first attempts weren't that great. They were pretty bad, actually. But now she was much better and decided to stick with it. Maybe New Directions could use some of her songs in the future!

Hearing a knock at the door, Rachel twisted carefully to see who it was. Her ribs were still very sore and bandaged, and the doctors had warned her not to move too suddenly or do anything too strenuous. So she was all bandaged up and on crutches for the time being. Rachel smiled slightly at the pretty girl in the doorway and waved her in. "Hi Alex I'm Rachel. You want an audition?" she asked, excited but surprised. There was so much interest in the club lately. It was sort of incredible. Perhaps their win at Regionals had something to do with it? "Yes this is the place. Are you ready to sing right now?"

"Yes I'm all prepared" Alex smiled. She wondered what had happened to Rachel in order for her to be in that condition. She didn't really wanna ask though in case she got upset. Alex stood in the centre of the room.

"Great, I can't wait to hear!" Rachel said enthusiastically. She turned very carefully on the piano bench so she could face Alex, and then she folded her hands in her lap, listening attentively. As Alex began to sing, Rachel froze and had to keep her jaw from dropping open. Alex was good. Like, really really good. So good that Rachel had the urge to dig up the address for the old inactive crack house. But she resisted, knowing how disastrous the results were last time she tried that. And if she did and Vocal Adrenaline snatched Alex up, her new friends would never forgive her. And she had worked so hard to gain their friendship and trust back. She couldn't lose it.

So even though she was insanely jealous, Rachel forced a smile on her face and clapped when Alex had finished. "You are very talented," she said. She couldn't resist adding, "I would know as I am extremely talented myself. Welcome to New Directions." Rachel held out her hand to shake. "I don't think I caught your last name," she said suddenly.

"It's no problem. New Directions is always happy for new members." Rachel paused and looked at Alex curiously. Hummel... "Hummel, you said? Are you related to a Kurt Hummel, by any chance?" she asked.

"Oh, is that so?" Rachel asked, pleasantly surprised. "No one ever mentioned..." she trailed off, then questioned, "Are you and Kurt very close? Will you be over often?"

"I've not seen him for years actually, but funny you should say that, I'm kinda living there, my parents didn't wanna move her so uncle Burt said I could move in with him...why?"

Rachel blinked in surprise. She would be living with them? Carole and Burt hadn't said anything...Weird. "Oh, I just wanted to know if I'd be seeing a lot of you. Which I will be I suppose." Seeing Alex's confused expression, she clarified, "I live there too."

"Oh no, it's not your fault! Carole and Burt just never told us." Or was it just her? Rachel frowned, wondering if Kurt or Finn knew. This would certainly be another big adjustment for everyone. Smiling slightly again, Rachel continued, "Well it's nice to meet you, housemate!"

"I'm sure," Rachel agreed, not mentioning that she herself could be a pretty difficult person to adjust to. No need to screw things up this early. "Are you here with Burt?" she asked, wondering where he could possibly be.

"I was just in the Auditorium with him and Kurt, they said something about a meeting with Ms. Pillsbury?"

"Kurt's here?" Rachel asked worriedly. She knew something was up, that much was obvious since Burt had pulled Kurt from Dalton. But nobody knew outside of Kurt, Burt, and Carole. Possibly Blaine. But no one was talking. "Did they mention what the meeting was about?"
